Can-Am League Game Recaps

June 12, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

Quebec 6, Worcester 3 (Game 2)

Holding a narrow, 4-3 lead in the eighth inning, the Capitales got four hits and pushed across two runs to earn a 6-3 win over the Tornadoes. A two-out stolen base from 3B Jonathan Malo enabled a CF Sebastien Boucher single to push in Quebec's final run. Boucher's eighth-inning RBI came on his third hit of the game. Worcester 3B Johnny Welch hit a two-run, fourth-inning homer, his seventh of the season, to highlight a 2-for-4 night and pull his club within one run of the Capitales. Quebec starting pitcher John Mariotti struck out three batters in seven innings while allowing two runs on three hits to earn his third win of the season.

Kansas City 8, Newark 1

T-Bones 3B Devin Goodwin scored three times for Kansas City, going 2-for-3 and hitting his seventh home run of the year. Goodwin's blast turned a scoreless tie into a 2-0 KC lead in the fourth inning. But thanks to a five-run eighth, that two-run advantage turned into a decisive, 8-1 victory over Newark. The Bears put their lone run on the board in the top of the ninth when Matt Tomczyk singled in Nick Santomauro. Tomcyzk was one of eight Bears to pick up a hit; however, none registered multiple base knocks.

Rockland at New Jersey (Postponed - Rain)

The game between Rockland and New Jersey was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader Thursday, June 15 beginning at 5:05 p.m. Each game will consist of seven innings.
