Two home runs in a three-run eighth broke an 8-8 tie and lifted Worcester over Quebec. 3B Johnny Welch was at the center of the Tornadoes' offensive surge. After hitting a two-run shot in the sixth, Welch connected with the tie-breaking solo home run in the eighth. Two batters after Welch's second home run, DH Nick Salotti delivered a two-run homer to put some distance between Worcester and the Capitales. On the mound, right-handed reliever Mike Mullen threw 2.1 innings with no earned runs (two unearned) to pick up the win. RHP Matt McDonald struck out one in a one-two-three ninth to get the save.
