New Jersey 3, Rockland 2 (10 innings)
With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 10th inning Monday night, Jackals RF Jeremy Slayden battled Boulders pitcher Kyle Wilson for 12 pitches. In the end, Slayden won the matchup, earning a bases on balls and sending 2B Argenis Reyes home to give New Jersey a 3-2 win. The at-bat was a microcosm of a game ¬" if not with a different outcome ¬" that saw battles at the plate all night. Usually the pitchers won, with New Jersey and Rockland earning just 15 total hits in 10 innings. Neither starting hurler factored in the decision, though both had impressive outings. Jackals starter James Leverton through 6.2 innings and allowed two runs on five hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. For the Boulders, Bobby Blevins went 7.2 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
