Newark 16, Rockland 4
The Newark Bears scored nine total runs in the first three innings as they went on to rout the Rockland Boulders 16-4. Bears CF Tim Raines Jr. belted two homeruns, a solo shot in the bottom of the second and a three-run dinger in the bottom of the third, finishing the game with six RBIs and three hits in five at-bats. Third baseman Todd Gossage hit a three-run double in the bottom of the first and finished the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Bears LF Brandon Watson went 4-for-6 from the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. In all, five Newark players had multi-hit games. For Rockland, C Todd Jennings had three hits in four at-bats and 3B Mark Hill had two RBIs in a losing effort.
Brockton 4, Worcester 1
Four Brockton solo homeruns in consecutive innings led the Rox to a 4-1 win against the Worcester Tornadoes. Rox SS Dominic Ramos went 2-for-4 with a homerun. First baseman Melvin Falu, LF Ryan Royster, and C Sam Wiley each belted a solo homer as well. Brockton left-hander Reid Jackson earned a win in his pro debut, coming in to relieve Freddy Flores and pitching a scoreless two-thirds of an inning. For the Tornadoes, 3B Mark Minicozzi went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Quebec 10, New York 2
Designated hitter Patrick D'Aoust hit a three-run homerun in the bottom of the second inning giving Quebec a 4-0 lead, and les Capitales never looked back as they went on to win 10-2 against New York. Quebec 3B Michael Thompson went 3-for-5 from the plate and had two doubles and two RBIs on the night. Catcher Pete LaForest had two hits in four at-bats with two RBIs and two runs scored. Quebec right-hander Karl Gelinas earned the win, pitching seven innings and only conceding two earned runs while striking out six batters. For New York, RF Trevor Pippin and CF Stephen Pinto each homered in a losing effort.
