The Jackals, down by two in the ninth, rallied to tie it at five on Joe Jiannetti's two-run homer to force extras. After two scoreless innings, Quebec's CF Geof Tomlinson plated SS Lee Delfino with a bases-loaded sac fly to win the game for the Caps, 6-5 in the 11th. LF Buck McNabb led the Capitales, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs on the night. DH Horace Lawrence led the Jackals with three hits. Jason Benson allowed two hits but escaped the eleventh unscathed to get his second win. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW HAVEN 1, GRAYS 0 @ West Haven, Conn. Time: 2:58 ATT: 588 W: Brad Whitworth (3-1) L: Tony Pierce (1-2) S: Mark Comolli (3) HR: NHC - Derrick Gibson (10) LF Derrick Gibson's third-inning solo homer made all the difference, as New Haven beat the Grays 1-0. Brad Whitworth got the win, amazingly emerging unscathed from six innings of work despite handing out seven bases on balls to go with four hits. Andy Weimer and Mark Comolli combined for three perfect innings in relief, with Comolli picking up his third save. Tony Pierce pitched well for the Grays, allowing just the run on Gibson's homer and five other hits over six innings, but was saddled with his second loss. 2B Mark Larosa doubled and singled in four at-bats, the only player in the game with multiple hits. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- WORCESTER 9, NORTH SHORE 3 (BOT 7TH) @ Lynn, Mass. Kevin Beavers pulled his weight on the other side of the ball, as well. Beavers held the Pio's to just a run on three hits over seven innings, striking out six. Reliever Jon Koch struck out five of the seven batters he faced in two scoreless innings of relief. RBI singles by DH Guye Senjem and C Brian Jones keyed the three-run rally in the first, and a three-run homer by 1B Craig Lewis highlighted the six-spot delivered by the Rox in the fourth. Senjem added a solo homer in the third and finished with three RBIs. CF Matt Cucurullo was 3-for-4 from the leadoff spot with two runs and three batted in.
