San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas---The Colts signed a trio of players on Tuesday including two familiar faces and one brand new one. San Angelo re-signed infielder Landon Camp and right-handed pitcher Caleb Rodgers and also added outfielder Jareck West. Camp was perhaps the most surprising player of the 2011 campaign, while Rodgers a former local product out of Angelo State filled in at several pitching spots and West was a former Oakland prospect.

Landon Camp put up numbers no one expected in just his second season of pro ball. After being cut twice early on last year and considering going back to Oklahoma, he decided to take one more shot at the 2010 season when he received a call from Colts Manager Doc Edwards. After missing the first several weeks of the season, Landon ended the 2011 campaign amongst the league leaders in quite a few offensive categories. Camp would finish the season hitting .355 with 24 homeruns (second most in Colts history for a single season) and 68 RBI in 68 games for San Angelo. Camp also filled a trouble spot for the Colts early on, playing most of the time at the hot corner, playing a spectacular third base defensively.

Caleb Rodgers, who is a native San Angeloan, was born here but pitched at Oral Roberts University and Sam Houston State University before being part of the ASU program. Rodgers has played his entire pro career with the Colts and will be entering his fifth season with San Angelo and is a versatile pitcher who can fill a variety of pitching roles.

New comer Jareck West, an outfielder who attended Delta State University, was a former Oakland A's prospect drafted in the 25th round in 2007. After spending 2007-2008 in the Athletics organization, he spent 2009-2010 with the Gateway Grizzlies in the Frontier League. In 2010 he hit .271 with 12 homeruns and 39 RBI in 50 games.
