Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC - The Road Warriors announced today that the team has re-signed forward Bretton Cameron for the 2013-14 Season.
"Bretton Cameron is a fierce competitor and will do whatever it takes to win hockey games," said Road Warriors Head Coach Dean Stork. "He will block shots, stick up for his teammates, score goals at crucial times and is all in every time he steps onto the ice. His hard work and competitive nature is contagious and rubs off on the whole team. He is a team first guy and a leader. You can never have enough guys like Cameron, because that's how you win."
Cameron, 24, is returning to Greenville for his third season with the team. In 2012-13, Cameron tallied 12 goals and 13 assists in 45 games for the Road Warriors. The Didsbury, Alberta native was also one of the team's top defensive forwards; blocking shots and logging tough minutes on the penalty kill. Cameron's stellar two-way play earned him ECHL player of the week honors in January and led to his first career AHL call up with the Texas Stars. In 21 games with the Stars, Cameron scored a goal and added four assists.
Cameron first joined the Road Warriors in January 2012 in a mid-season trade with the Stockton Thunder. In 73 total games in a Road Warriors jersey, Cameron has put up 18 goals and 30 assists adding 120 penalty minutes.
"There's nothing better than playing in front of a huge crowd," said Cameron on the Road Warriors attendance gains last season. "I look forward to seeing what the fans have to offer this year. Hopefully we can grow on that and keep it going."
