Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (February 17)- A three hour delay in Amarillo could not stop the Texas Brahmas and goaltender David Cacciola as they defeated the Gorillas Sunday evening in a 3-0 shutout.
The 6:05 PM start time was pushed back due to zamboni and ice problems, but the Brahmas remained focused and played a strong game led by Cacciola. He turned away 37 shots for the first Texas shutout of the season. The Brahmas last shutout came November 12, 2005 from Larry Sterling in a 2-0 victory over Bossier-Shreveport.
Offense came from Kevin Korol and Tyler Skworchinski in the second. Korol's goal was his fourth of the season.
Skworchinski and his linemates Jordan Cameron and Anders Strome continued to roll as Strome scored a short-handed goal in the final period, his team leading 29th goal of the season.
Texas is now on a seven game winning streak-their longest of the season. The victory jumped the Brahmas into a playoff position in the North. The Brahmas will hit the road Thursday to face the RiverKings at 7:05 PM and will return home Friday to play Bossier-Shreveport at 7:05 PM.
