Portland Lumberjax News Release
PORTLAND, OR; July 17, 2006 - Let the trading begin! Just days after the NLL Expansion Draft that got teams in the midst of losing and gaining players, head coach Derek Keenan has jumped into the mix. In exchange for Calgary's 2006 third-round draft pick (29th overall), Shawn Cable is headed to the Calgary Roughnecks for the 2007 season.
Last season, Cable participated in 13 games contributing 9 goals, 16 assists, and 42 loose balls. His total 37 shots on goal and 58 shot total averages a .155 shooting percentage for the season. Cable also greatly helped Portland in their playoff game against Arizona Sting. He scored one goal and had one ground ball.
The forward scored 47 goals and 105 points in his 48 career NLL games. Cable is actually headed back to where it all started for him. During the 2001-2002 seasons, he competed for the Roughnecks until he was traded to the Colorado Mammoth. The Jax received Cable through the Anaheim Storm.
