PEARL, MS - The Atlanta Braves have made the following roster move affecting the M-Braves roster before tonight's 5:00 pm series opener against Pensacola at Trustmark Park. C Alex Jackson has been promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Jackson, 22, batted .200 (45-for-225) with 12 doubles, one triple, five home runs and 24 RBI in 64 games this season. Jackson has been one of the top defensive catchers in the Southern League this season, posting a .990 fielding percentage, and catching 31.3% of base stealers (31-for-67).
The Escondido, CA native is ranked as the No. 13 prospect in the organization, according to MLB.com, and was acquired by the Braves in 2016. The trade with Seattle, on November 28, 2016, included Jackson and a player to be named later (LHP Tyler Pike) for RHP Rob Whalen and RHP Max Povse.
The Mariners originally selected Jackson in the first round of the 2014 draft (sixth overall) out of Rancho Bernardo HS (CA). Jackson was the first high school position player to be taken in the 2014 draft.
The Mississippi Braves roster currently stands at 24 active players and three on the DL.
