The Buzzards' special teams continued to excel, stopping both Cotton Kings power plays in the period. The Buzzards also outshot Lubbock 12 to 10 in the period.

The Cotton Kings got on the board early in the third period with a power play goal by Dave Ambler. The Buzzards quickly regained the momentum with a breakaway goal by Rapoza at 4:24.
