North Bay Battalion News Release

The Battalion, which has used a four-game winning streak to close within six points of the Central Division-leading Niagara IceDogs, has two home games this weekend and aims to earn Stan Butler his 500th Ontario Hockey League victory.

The Troops host the Belleville Bulls on Friday at 7:30 for VIA Rail Night, and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds are the visitors Sunday at 2:00 for The Home Depot Day.

Butler, who has a won-lost-extended record of 499-510-65 in 1,074 games with the Oshawa Generals and Battalion, looks to become the seventh coach in league history to reach the 500-win plateau. Brian Kilrea earned 1,193 wins with the Ottawa 67's during his legendary career, while the late Bert Templeton is second with 907 victories. George Burnett of Belleville leads active coaches with 509 wins, ranking sixth.

Tickets for all Battalion home games can be purchased online at www.battalionhockey.com or at Battalion Headquarters Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
