Butch Hobson and Bob Stanley to speak at Spirit Hot Stove

Minor-league baseball may be on the backburner during the long winter months, but the Spirit are fanning the flames this off-season with the First Annual North Shore Spirit Hot Stove Event. The event will be held in conjunction with the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce and a portion of all proceeds will be donated to First Book - Lynn.

The featured speakers at the North Shore Spirit Hot Stove Event will be Butch Hobson and Bob Stanley, two men with close ties to New England baseball.

Currently the manager of the Nashua Pride, Hobson's career as both a player and a manager has spanned three decades. He will bring a wealth of baseball knowledge to the evening and he will provide Spirit fans with their first chance to welcome the newest member of the CanAm League.

Stanley was a two-time All Star closer for the Boston Red Sox. He spent his entire 13-year career in the Major Leagues with the Red Sox, compiling a career record of 115-97 with a 3.64 ERA. He is the all-time saves leader for the Red Sox with 132 and a member of the Red Sox Hall of Fame.

In addition to our two guest speakers, there will be other baseball personalities and surprise visitors on hand. The Spirit will be releasing more information as the event draws closer.

The Hot Stove Event will take place on Wednesday, February 1st at the Knights of Columbus in Lynn. The Hall will open at 5:30 and the program will run from 6 - 8:30 p.m. The program will include raffles and prizes as well as a silent auction.

A limited number of tickets will be made available to the public on Tuesday, January 17th. Fans may begin contacting the Spirit on the 17th for reservations at 781-592-0007. Tickets for the event cost $40 and include the catered buffet dinner. Guests may purchase an entire 10-person table for $350 as well. Remember fans, tickets are limited so don't miss out on the hottest event of the winter!
