Boston Breakers News Release
The Boston Breakers landed in Rochester Monday to prepare for Wednesday night's match against Western New York, looking to rebound from Saturday's 4-0 loss to magicJack.
Making a push for one of the final two playoff spots, the Breakers (4-7-4) will look to the explosive Kelley O'Hara, the team's leading scorer (four goals), and a solid defending effort from the back line of Stephanie Cox, Amy LePeilbet, Rachel Buehler, and Alex Scott to fend off the second-place Flash (9-2-3).
The Flash and Philadelphia Independence have claimed the first two playoff spots, and the Atlanta Beat are mathematically eliminated, so it comes down to Sky Blue FC, magicJack, and the Breakers all battling for the final two spots.
The Breakers and Flash meet Wednesday, Aug. 3rd, at 7:30 p.m. at Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester, N.Y. Game notes for the match can be found here.
The Breakers return home on Saturday, Aug. 6th at 7 p.m. to face magicJack at Harvard Stadium. Twelve players from the two teams combined played for the U.S. Women's National Team at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup and another six individuals played for three other countries (Japan, England, and Canada).
