Bushey Advances to USHL

DUBUQUE, IA- The Dubuque Fighting Saints added to its blueline today, obtaining defenseman Jake Bushey from the Kenai River Brown Bears of the NAHL. Bushey was in his second season with the Brown Bears and played under current Dubuque assistant coach Oliver David in Kenai River last season. To open a roster spot for Bushey, the Fighting Saints placed defenseman Dylan Chanter on 25-day injured reserve.

Bushey, a native of Duluth, Minnesota, is off to a strong start to the 2013-2014 campaign, scoring two goals and seven assists and adding 16 penalty minutes in 12 games with Kenai River. The 6-foot, 190-pound defenseman is coming off a strong 2012-2013 season with the Brown Bears, skating in 54 games and adding six goals and 11 assists for 17 points. He also tallied an assist in five playoff games. Bushey was previously with Duluth Marshall High School in Minnesota, and in 2011-2012 the then senior had a superb season, scoring six goals and 25 assists for 31 points.

Bushey will be eligible to play this weekend and will wear number 6 for the Fighting Saints.
