Princeton fell to Burlington, 7-6, at Hunnicutt Field on August 25. The Rays scored one run in the first inning, three in the fourth, one in the seventh, and one in the eighth. Burlington scored four runs in the fourth, one in the sixth, one in the ninth, and one in the tenth.
In the Appalachian League East, the Rays (33-28) are second behind Pulaski (39-22). The Royals are fourth at 27-34.
The Rays scored the first run of the game, in the first inning, as Peter Maris scored from a double by Brett Sullivan. Burlington put four runs on the board in the fourth inning. Ben Johnson made it home from a single by Meibrys Viloria. Angelo Castellano singled as Brandon Dulin scored. Riley King singled to bring Viloria home. Castellano scored off of a single by Brian Bien. The Rays scored three runs in the fourth. David Rodriguez singled to bring Landon Cray home. Rodriguez and David Olmedo-Barrera scored from a single by Angel Perez. Burlington scored one run by Trey Stover, in the sixth, as Brian Bien singled. In the seventh, Princeton's Jonathan Popadics scored as Zac Law hit a sacrifice fly. Princeton's Olmedo-Barrera scored from a fielding error in the eighth. Burlington scored one run in the ninth. Ben Johnson hit a sacrifice fly, which brought Stover home. In the tenth, the Royals sealed the win as Castellano scored from a sacrifice fly by Stover.
