
Burke's OT Goal Fuels Bugs Dramatic Win Over Brahmas

The Shreveport Mudbugs (24-11-2) busted out of their recent losing skid as Ryan Burke's biggest goal of the season lifted SHV to a dramatic 3-2 OT victory over the Lone Star Brahmas in front of a packed house in George's Pond at Hirsch Coliseum Saturday night.
LSB struck first again at 16:35 of the opening period as Connor Bergeron deflected in his third goal of the year in front to give the visiting team an early 1-0 lead. SOG were tied 9-9 after one.
SHV responded in a big way in the second period and it started at 10:37 when Nick Marino took a loose puck and buried home his 14th goal of the year from the slot to even the score, 1-1. Wil Murphy took the initial shot on net and picked up the only assist. The Bugs would then grab their first lead of the series at 15:51 when SHV swarmed the net and Brayden Cook sizzled in the rebound in front for his seventh which gave the Bugs a 2-1 lead. Logan Heroux earned the only helper on the go-ahead tally. LSB led in SOG, 23-20 after two.
The Brahmas stormed right back just 57 seconds into the third as Bergeron stood in the slot and wired home his second of the game evening the tilt, 2-2. The game stayed tied sending the contest in OT.
In OT, it was Ryan Burke who found space in deep and backhanded home his 15th tally of the season lifting the Bugs to a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Brahmas ending their losing skid.
Nikola Goich earned the win in net making 26 saves on the evening.
The Bugs will hit the road for the next three weeks beginning with a two-game series against the surging El Paso Rhinos. Game one will be next Friday night w/ puck drop scheduled for 8 p.m. CT from the El Paso County Events Center.
