
Bundy Leads Wilmington over Charlotte 3-0

Wilmington, NC - The Charlotte Eagles faced the Wilmington Hammerheads in the final match of the regular season. Wilmington kept their home undefeated streak alive, defeating Charlotte 3-0. Kenny Bundy scored the opening goal and added an assist to lead the Hammerheads. Charlotte claims the second seed heading in to the USL-2 playoffs and will face the Harrisburg City Islanders in round one. Wilmington and Western Mass. match up in the other semi final pairing.

Kenny Bundy put the first goal on the board for Wilmington in the 47th minute, unassisted. Bundy's goal came off the corner kick, picking up a loose ball at close range, and slipping it inside the left post.
Bundy set up the second goal for Wilmington in the 54th minute. Bundy served a ball in across the Charlotte goal mouth. Kevin Nylen got a head on the cross, directing it to the right post to beat Eagles goalkeeper Terry Boss.
Wilmington's final goal of the match came in the 61st minute. This time it was Phil Hufstader getting up for a header on the cross from Troy Lesesne.
Charlotte and Wilmington had both already clinched spots in the playoffs, but Charlotte had the chance to take the top seed with a victory. With the loss, Charlotte claims the second seed and will face Harrisburg in the opening round of playoffs. Charlotte and Harrisburg will play a two game aggregate goal series, opening on Wednesday, August 17th in Harrisburg. Charlotte will then host the Harrisburg City Islanders on Saturday, August 20th at Waddell Stadium, 7:30pm. Tickets for Charlotte Eagles home Semi Final Playoff match are priced at $10 for adults, $7 for youth 6-18 and free for children 5 and under.
