Amarillo Bulls News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Bulls, 2011 South Division Champions, announced today (Monday) that defenseman Karl Beckman has been named Assistant Captain. Beckman, a native of Okemos, Michigan, is off to a terrific start for the Bulls and is among the leaders in NAHL defenseman. Beckman has notched two goals and added 13 assists for 15 points in 15 games for the Bulls. He is among the best in the league in plus minus with a mark of plus 16. Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams said that Beckman has been a great teammate that will compliment Captains Matt Johnson and Joe Kozlak.

"He's just a great kid, works really hard, and takes everything seriously," said Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams. "He really wants to make this team win this year. This is his last kick at the can. "I see him out there shooting pucks on a constant basis by himself, getting extra workouts in and he is also been very vocal."

Williams said that ‚¬ËœA's' and ‚¬ËœCs' are something that are earned on a hockey club and are not just given to your top point getter or a 20 year old.

"It comes by respect by your teammates and the coaching staff and obviously Karl did a great job with that," Williams added.

In other Bulls news, the team also announced that they have traded defenseman Michael Mazzotta to the Jamestown Ironmen. In a separate transaction, the Bulls also acquired defenseman Culley McCloud from the Janesville Jets. Head Coach Dennis Williams said that McCloud was in their main camp during the summer.

"I know Janesville had to depart with one of their defenseman, and we wanted Culley to come back here," Williams explained. "He is a good defenseman that moves the puck well and sees the ice well. I think he will fit in nicely with our guys here."

The Amarillo Bulls return to home ice this weekend with a pair of games against the Odessa Jackalopes on Friday and Saturday night. Face-off at the Budweiser Bull Pen is set for 7 pm. On Friday, it's Atmos Energy Night. Fans are encouraged to bring a gently used coat to support Evelyn Rivers. Saturday's game is sponsored by Avondale Pharmacy, and the first 200 fans to Customer Relations will receive a foam puck.

Tickets for both games are available at the Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk in the Amarillo Building, Civic Center Box Office and all Panhandle Ticket Outlets. For further information on Group Rates, Full or Half Season Tickets or Seven-Game Flex Packs, please call the Bulls Office at 806-242-1122.
