Bulls Fall to Topeka Set Stage for Game 4 on Friday

TOPEKA, KS - Consecutive goals in a row by one team has been a major story in the South Division final between the Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners. The Bulls suffered that fate at the hands of the RoadRunners in the third game at Kansas Expo Center, Landon Arena on Thursday night.

The Bulls surrendered six consecutive goals wiping out a 3-0 lead, and fell 6-3 to the RoadRunners. Amarillo still has a 2-1 series lead with Game 4 set for Friday night in Topeka.

In the franchise's short two-year history, the Bulls have yet to win when they have a 2-0 series advantage.

The first 26 minutes was all Amarillo, building a 3-0 cushion, but after that it was all Topeka with three goals in the second, and then three more in the third to snap a tie.

"We were awful tonight," said Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams. "We had too many turnovers, mistakes and allowed them back in the series. The guys didn't play for a full 60 minutes and our leaders were not there tonight."

The Amarillo Bulls were able to silence the big crowd at the Kansas Expo Center by scoring two goals 2:12 apart. Omar Mullan converted a feed from Clint Carlisle at 4:36. John Rey's point shot hit several players before the puck found the back of the net to make it 2-0. Greg Gibson and Joe Kozlak earned assists on the goal.

Topeka had several chances to score in the first period, but goaltender Mike Taffe turned them aside. The RoadRunners outshot the Bulls 13-6 in the stanza.

In the second period, the Bulls extended their lead to 3-0 when Omar Mullan notched his second of the game from Clint Carlisle at 3:43. Five minutes later, Topeka would mount a strong charge and tie the game up with three goals less than two minutes apart. including one on the power play. The Bulls weathered the storm, held it together after the rally and didn't allow the RoadRunners to score another. The RoadRunners outshot Amarillo 12-8.

Topeka took the lead early in the third period converting a two-on-one break. Two more goals were added four minutes apart to round out the scoring with one coming via the power play. The Bulls battled in an attempt to get the game to overtime, but couldn't be goaltender Peter Traber.

Despite each team getting 11 shots on net in the final third period, the Bulls were outshot in the game 36-25. The Bulls were 0 for 6 on the power play, while Topeka was 2 for 4.

Puska as all of the exciting action of Amarillo and Topeka in Game 4 from the Kansas Expo Center Landon Arena at 7 pm. There will be another watch party taking place at Cattle Call (I-40 and Western) for fans to enjoy the action.
