Amarillo Bulls News Release

SHREVEPORT, LA - The Amarillo Bulls power play and solid defensive play in the third period helped to extend the unbeaten streak to 10 games on Friday night at George's Pond Hirsch Coliseum.

Brenden Datema and Cooper Fensterstock tallied over the final 40 minutes as the Bulls edged the Shreveport Mudbugs 3-2. The victory was the Bulls first at George's Pond in two plus seasons. Logan Jenuwine picked up the other Bulls goal in support of Jason Grande who played well to post the win in goal.

The Bulls are now 6-0-2-2 in their last 10 and increased their lead to seven points over the Topeka Pilots in the South Division.

Logan Jenuwine gave the Bulls a 1-0 lead just seven minutes into the first period when he fired a screen shot past goaltender Leo Chuard. For Jenuwine it was his seventh in his last six games. Brendan West and Jake Willets earned assists on the play. However, late in the period the Mudbugs scored twice in a span of 2:11 to take the lead before the intermission. Tim Khokhlachev and Joel Frazee tallied for the homeside. Each club had 12 first period shots.

There was just one goal in the second period as Brenden Datema notched his 10th power play goal of the year, blasting a shot past the goaltender from Nick Anderson and Gabriel Seger. The Bulls dominated the middle stanza with hard work and a 15-9 shots-on- goal advantage.

It was a well played third period by both teams with special teams proving key. At the tail end of a five minute power play, Cooper Fensterstock tipped home a pass from Logan Jenuwine to give the Bulls the lead they wouldn't relinquish. Brenden Datema also earned an assist on the go-ahead goal.

Down the stretch it was smart defensive hockey by the Bulls keeping the Mudbugs scoring chances to a minimum, while allowing Jason Grande to see the puck and make important saves.

The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Shreveport Mudbugs 42-29 including 15-8 in the third period.

Fans can tune into the action tomorrow night between the Bulls and the Mudbugs at George's Pond Hirsch Coliseum beginning with the Fit Omni Warm Up Show at 6:45 pm. Denis J. Puska has the play by play action at 7:11 pm on 107.1 Nash Icon, www.amarillobulls.com and on PPV with Hockey TV.
