Amarillo Bulls News Release

AMARILLO, TX - For just the third time in franchise history the Amarillo Bulls reached the 40 win mark.

A second period assault with 29 shots and three goals propelled the Bulls to a come-from-behind 4-2 win over the Odessa Jackalopes in front of better than 3,800 fans on Saturday night at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The last time the Bulls had 40 wins in a season was back-to-back in the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 when they finished with 46.

Prior to the game, the Bulls honored the players parents as 19 sets of family members were in attendance from across the country. The Bulls wore special Amarillo Sod Poodles jerseys in support of Amarillo Hockey Association. A terrific auction followed the game with the largest turnout in quite some time.

It was a tough start to the game for the Bulls as they came out flat. The visitors went to work early and scored two goals in the first 11 minutes of the game to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Vaclav Zidek and Carl Skarstrom tallied for the Jackalopes.

However, things quickly changed in the Bulls favor in the middle stanza with shot after shot on goaltender Alex Camarre. Jason Brancheau broke through with a couple of goals to tie the game. Cooper Fensterstock assisted on both markers, while Matt Allen and Jake Willets had the others. Amarillo grabbed its first lead as Gagik Malakyan scored on a blast from the point from Gabriel Seger and David Ojamae.

Gabriel Seger provided the Bulls with an insurance marker in the third period as he tipped home a shot from Nick Anderson and Jake Willets.

The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Odessa Jackalopes 52-32. Each team had eight power play chances with the Bulls notching the lone marker.

It's back to the road this weekend for the Amarillo Bulls as they face the Lone Star Brahmas at NYTEX Sports Center in North Richland Hills Texas. Tune into he action on Friday and Saturday live on 107.1 NASH Icon, www.amarillobulls.com and on PPV with Hockey TV with the Fit Omni Warm Up Show at 7:05 pm. Denis J.
