Amarillo Bulls News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Amarillo Bulls connected on three second period goals and went on to blank the Corpus Christi IceRays 4-0 on Friday night at American Bank Center. It was the Bulls 28th win, and their 60th point of the season.
Alex Peterson scored twice for the Bulls, while Louis Helsen, and Nick Anderson tallied the others. Jason Grande turned aside all 31 shots he faced.
There was no scoring in the first period but the Bulls had the better of the scoring chances, including a partial breakaway by Logan Jenuwine and several odd-man rushes. Amarillo outshot the home side 15-12.
The Bulls offense ignited in the middle stanza and it was started by a terrific rush up the ice by Logan Jenuwine and Gabriel Seger who pushed the puck over to Alex Peterson. He connected on a one timer into the top of the net. Louis Helsen gave the Bulls a 2-0 lead on a shot from the point from Cooper Fensterstock near the midway mark of the period. This was after a long stretch of sustained pressure by the Bulls. Nick Anderson added to the Bulls lead late in the period when he fired a shot into the open net, beating Brian George who was interfered with by Brett Abdelnour and an IceRays defenseman. Upon further review, the referee allowed to goal the stand. Jason Grande preserved the lead for the Bulls coming up with some easy timely saves. The Bulls outshot Corpus Christi 15-10 in the period.
The third period was a chippy one between the two teams with plenty of penalties and lots of pushing and shoving after the whistle. Alex Peterson rounded out the scoring with a power play goal with help from Jake Willets and Cooper Fensterstock.
The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Corpus Christi IceRays 38-31 including 9-8 in the final stanza.
