ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Despite throwing 33 shots on goal, the Johnstown Tomahawks fell to the Northeast Generals 2-1 Saturday night at New England Sports Village.

Scoring Breakdown:

1st Period Recap

The Generals cracked the scoreless tie at the 4:16 mark of the first period when Svet Kuchynski deflected a shot from Louis Boudon past Tomahawks goalie Carter McPhail.

Johnstown and Northeast each traded scoring chances but the Generals skated into the intermission up 1-0.

2nd Period Recap

Despite being on the man advantage, the Tomahawks surrendered a short-handed goal from Kuchynski for a 2-0 Northeast lead.

However, the Tomahawks responded two minutes later as Carson Brière cut the Generals lead to 2-1 with his 19th power play goal of the season and 27th of the year. Oliver Benwell and Sam Solensky registered the assists.

Solensky returned to the lineup with an assist on Brière's power play goal.

3rd Period Recap:

The Tomahawks had multiple chances to tie the game at 2-2 but the Generals and netminder David Fessenden stood tall at gave the Tomahawks their sixth loss of the season.

Game Recap:

Brière's power play goal was his league-leading 19th of the season.

Solensky's assist on the goal was his league-leading 41st helper of the year.

The Tomahawks conclude their weekend series with the Generals Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

Johnstown is back on home ice February 1-2 for Kids Weekend presented by Hogue's Fun Factory. Saturday, Feb. 2 is Chopper's birthday celebration along with mascot mania and other kid-themed activities throughout the night.
