ALBERT LEA, MN - The Amarillo Bulls concluded their exhibition schedule on Monday afternoon with a game against their sister team the North Iowa Bulls at the Albert Lea City Arena.
Two goals off the stick of Tyler Deresky, including one shorthanded lifted the Bulls to a 5-0 triumph over North Iowa. Goaltenders Collin Delia and Paul Berrafato shared the shutout.
Tyler Gerhhofer, Clint Carlisle and Michael Davis added the other markers for Amarillo which got off to a slow start, but got stronger and stronger as the game went along.
Amarillo Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams said the 20 hour bus ride may have had a lot to do with the slow start.
"I thought it was a really good game," said Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams. "Guys were battling for both teams. Todd has done a really nice job with North Iowa. He's been there two years and I have been impressed with what I have seen."
Williams said they were able to play everyone and that helped them with their evaluation process.
For the North Iowa Bulls, a member of the NA3HL, it was their fourth game against a North American Hockey League team, facing the Topeka Road Runners as well as the Austin Bruins earlier on their exhibition schedule.
"We started off with Topeka a couple of weeks ago, and the pace was good and fast. We faced Austin over the weekend and I felt we got stronger," said North Iowa Head Coach Todd Sanden. "We brought in Amarillo today and they are clearly are the best team we have faced thus far in the exhibition series. It's good to have our guys play at that pace."
The 10 th annual NAHL Showcase gets underway on Wednesday in Blaine Minnesota. The Amarillo Bulls will face the Austin Bruins at 1:45 pm at the Schwann Super Rink. Fans can tune into the game live on ESPN1440 and ww.amarillobulls.com beginning with The Bulls Warm Up Show at 1:30 pm. Denis J. Puska has all of the hard hitting action to follow. The game is also available on Pay-Per-View courtesy of Fast Hockey and a high speed internet connection is required in order to view the game.
