Amarillo Bulls News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Bulls remained unbeaten on Sonic Sundays.

Collin Delia stopped all 20 shots he faced and two second period goals proved to be the difference as the Bulls blanked the Lone Star Brahmas 2-0 at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. It was the Bulls fourth straight win on Sonic Sunday, a unique promotion that allows residents in the Texas Panhandle to see a game for free. The victory also snapped a seven game winless slide where the Bulls went 0-6-1.

Carter Penzien and Brady Ferguson scored eight minutes apart in a hard fought second period. Amarillo moved to within one point of first place Wichita Falls in the South Division and can take over top spot on Tuesday night.

The Amarillo Bulls were able to control the opening 20 minutes of play with seven shots, but with some sustained pressure. The Brahmas offensive attacks were limited by good defensive play by the Bulls and goaltender Collin Delia ability to keep the score sheet clean. The Bulls outshot the Brahmas 7-4.

It was a productive 2nd period for the Amarillo Bulls as they were able to control the play and score twice. Roman Ammirato came close to scoring shorthanded early in the stanza but goalie TJ Black made a big save.

Carter Penzien gave the Bulls a 1-0 lead when he fired a shot into the top corner. Brett Szajner and Brady Ferguson added assists on the play at the 9:15 mark. Nearly eight minutes later, Brady Ferguson wired a shot that squeaked through the pads of TJ Black and it was 2-0. Brett Szajner added another assist on the scoring play. The Bulls penalty killing was outstanding killing off four and goaltender Collin Delia was also solid. The Bulls outshot the Brahmas 11-7.

The Bulls played well in the third period limiting the Brahmas scoring chances. The biggest opportunity Lone Star had was in the final three minutes on a partial breakaway but Collin Delia kept the visitors from breaking the shutout bid. A costly penalty in the final minute prevented the Brahmas from pulling their goaltender.

The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Lone Star Brahmas 13-7 in the third and 31-20 overall. Each team had six power plays with the Bulls netting the lone goal.

On Tuesday the Amarillo Bulls will host their third annual New Years' Eve game facing the Lone Star Brahmas at 7 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The night is sponsored by Budweiser and there will be plenty of party favors handed out.
