Amarillo Bulls News Release

SHREVEPORT, LA - It has been a long drought between playoff appearances for the Amarillo Bulls.

Five years and more than 1,700 days later the Bulls have made their way back to Robertson Cup Playoffs and did it in dramatic fashion with a 3-2 overtime win over the Shreveport Mudbugs on Friday night at George's Pond Hirsch Coliseum.

It was the Bulls 33rd win and seventh versus Shreveport this season.

Forward Gabriel Seger, who 24 hours prior announced his NCAA College Commitment to Union College, potted the game winning goal on a great individual effort. Logan Jenuwine and Jason Brancheau picked up the other goals. Jenuwine also had two assists in the game. Goaltender Jason Grande stopped 29 of 31 shots he faced.

All of the scoring in the first period was done in the final four minutes of play. CJ Regula raced up the ice and beat goaltender Grande on the short side to give the home town Mudbugs a 1-0 lead. The power play brought the Bulls even in the final 60 seconds when Logan Jenuwine broke free at the blue line and beat the Mudbugs goaltender on the short side. Jake Willets had an assist. The Bulls outshot the Mudbugs 7-6 in the first period.

The Bulls spent much of the second period penalty killing, including a five-on-three and a five-minute major. Shreveport grabbed a 2-1 lead when Ethan Harrison scored on a screen shot from the point. The shots on goal advantage favored the Mudbugs at 12-7 in the middle stanza.

It was a wild third period with plenty of scoring chances for both teams. The Bulls tied the game on a face-off play as Jenuwine sent the puck over to Jason Brancheau who was able to convert and put it in the top corner.

In overtime, both teams pressed hard looking to win the game, but Gabriel Seger pushed a sprawling shot past goaltender Maizson Balboa to win the game and give the Bulls first first overtime win of the season.

The Shreveport Mudbugs outshot the Amarillo Bulls 31-26. Each team had a power play goal on a combined 12 chances.
