Amarillo Bulls News Release

AMARILLO, TX - When the Amarillo Bulls have suffered a set back, the following night has shown to be a quick and productive response where the opposition has been overwhelmed.

That was the case on Saturday night at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center as the Bulls came out firing with a goal and 22 first-period shots and went on to a 6-2 win over the Shreveport Mudbugs. It was the Bulls 27th win of the season, and it closed a nine game home stand where they finished 7-2. Justin Evenson collected the win in goal.

The previous night didn't go well for the Bulls as they surrendered three in the first in a 6-0 loss which was their worst defeat of the season to date.

Alex Peterson made amends and had the crowd rocking early as he followed up a rebound and stuck it past goaltender Leo Chuard. Noah Carlin and Gabriel Seger posted assists on the play. The Bulls had all of the momentum with 22 shots and at least six Grade A scoring chances.

The Bulls provided another quick strike attack to start the second period as Alex Peterson kept the puck in play at the blue line and spotted Nick Anderson down near the corner. Anderson sent the puck to Logan Jenuwine at the front of the net where Gabriel Seger was standing by and able to punch home the rebound.

Later in the period, the visitors found the back of the net as CJ Regula scored on the power play to cut the deficit to 2-1.

The third period was all Bulls as they tallied four times to put the game out of reach. It started in the first 19 seconds as pressure by Logan Jenuwine and Gabriel Seger led to a goal. Jenuwine riffled a puck past the goaltender Leo Chuard. Midway through the stanza, the Bulls offense went to work with three goals in a span of 1:49. The first two were back-to-back power play goals off the sticks of Alex Peterson and Gabriel Seger with their 2nd of the game, respectively. Earning assists were Jason Brancheau, Logan Jenuwine Jake Willets and goaltender Justin Evenson. Logan Jenuwine added a sixth Bulls goal with help from Gabriel Seger and Louis Helsen. The Mudbugs rounded out the scoring as Timothy Clifton chipped one in past Evenson.

The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Shreveport Mudbugs 45-25. There were a total of 16 power plays with each team scoring twice.
