Bulls Battle Back, Take Game Three
April 25, 2014 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Topeka Pilots News Release
The Runners needed just one win to take this best-of-five series and move on to the Robbie Cup Semis. Looks like it'll take them another game to get it. Regulation couldn't contain this game as the Bulls tied it and went on to win in overtime 3-2.
With less than six minutes remaining in the third, Amarillo's Ben Jentsch slipped the puck past PJ Bridges to even the game at two. In the extra frame, Tyler Gernhofer managed to find room through the net to take the game for the Bulls, their first win over Topeka in their last 10 meetings.
Daniel Rzavsky put the Runners up early at 6:16 of the first (assisted by Tyler Poulsen and Tomas Nechala). A lead that would stand up until Poulsen extended it to two at 1:34 in the second (assisted by Willie Brown). That cushion would lastuntil midway through the second as Kyle Gattelaro cut it in half at 9:07.
The Runners lead in the series overall is nowtwo games to one. Game four will take place Friday night at Landon Arena. Game five will move to Amarillo next Monday if necessary.
The Bulls will lock horns with the RunnersFriday night at Landon Arena at 7pm. Children under 12 years old get in free. For more information on tickets to this game and purchasing 2014-2015 RoadRunners season tickets (now on sale), call 785-286-PUCK or visit www.topekaroadrunners.com .
