Amarillo Bulls News Release
AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Bulls added more grit, character and scoring punch to their line-up today (Thursday) with the acquisition of forward Mitchell McPherson from the Lone Star Brahmas.
McPherson is very familiar to Bulls' fans as he spent the past two seasons with the rival Texas Tornado and was on their Robertson Cup Championship team. In 106 games with the Tornado, the Peoria, Illinois native had 19 goals and 22 assists for 41 points. McPherson was plus ten, had 98 penalty minutes and 127 shots on goal. In 14 post season games, McPherson fired two goals and set up two more for four points.
Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams said that McPherson was a productive player for the Tornado for two seasons, and was well coached by Tony Curtale.
"He was always tough for our guys to play against and found ways to score big goals," said Williams. "I am very excited to have him join our roster. He is looking forward to putting on a different jersey in our rink and knows how tough it is to play in here. I think he will quickly become a fan favorite."
In a separate transaction today (Thursday), the Bulls traded defenseman Ivan Chukarov to the Minnesota Wilderness for future considerations. Chukarov, who hails from Chicago, Illinois, played in both exhibition games in Wichita Falls over the weekend but did not get a point.
The Amarillo Bulls Opening Weekend is nearly two weeks away at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. On Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28 the Bulls will host the Odessa Jackalopes at 7 pm.
