Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release
HAMPTON, Va - The Fayetteville SwampDogs bats never quite got going Sunday night, as they fell to the Peninsula Pilots 8-0 at Peninsula War Memorial Stadium.
The Pilots got things going early against SwampDogs starting pitcher Ryan Stamler (Fr./The Citadel), plating two runs in the second inning on the strength of back-to-back run-scoring singles from Connor Myers and Skyler Weber.
The Pilots struck for four more off Stamler in the third, before he was pulled in favor of Nick Miceli (Soph./Wesleyan) who stopped the bleeding.
Miceli pitched 5.2 innings of long relief, allowing two runs (one earned) and two hits, walking one and striking out seven. Taylor Edens of the Pilots was equally as good on the mound, allowing only one hit in his six innings of work.
Edens would earn the win, improving to 2-0 on the season. Stamler was pinned with the loss, falling to 0-1 on the year. Austin Upshaw (Fr./Kennesaw State) had a single to extend his hitting streak to five games.
The SwampDogs (5-5) are back in action tomorrow night when they travel to take on the Morehead City Marlins at 7:05 pm. The next SwampDogs home game will be Tuesday, June 9th on Hope Mills Night when the 'Dogs host the Petersburg Generals. Reserve your tickets now by calling 910-426-5900.
