Bullies Close To NHL Affiliation
August 27, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies Vice President and General Manager Dan Belisle announced last night at the second annual "Bullies Town Meeting" that he has an agreement in principle with a National Hockey League team for a full fledged affiliation in 2004-05. The announcement, including the release of the NHL parent club, is expected to become official in the very near future.
"We're excited about the many possibilities that having an NHL affiliation brings to us for this upcoming season," said Belisle. "Not only can we expect to see quality prospects in Atlantic City, but hopefully this alleviates the pressure of potentially losing several players to different organizations throughout the year."
In their three-year history, despite working agreements with different NHL teams, the Bullies have never had an official affiliation.
Belisle also unveiled the team's new home and away jerseys. With the original design remaining intact, the Bullies have modified the color and font scheme and reversed the logos from the previous home and away jerseys in order to create a new, fresh image. SP Apparel out of Quebec, Canada designed the new jerseys.
Atlantic City, as part of their training camp, will also play two preseason games against the Las Vegas Wranglers on October 15 and 16 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Last season in the inaugural "Sin City Showdown", the Bullies won two of three games from the Wranglers.
The Bullies will host a second Town Meeting on Sunday, September 26 at their annual Pick-A-Seat Promotion at Boardwalk Hall for those fans who were unable to attend last night.
Operation: 1,700 is now underway. The Bullies have set a goal to secure 1,700 season tickets between now and Opening Night 2004, October 29 against the Trenton Titans. IT'S TIME FOR ACTION! Season tickets start as low as $324 and are on sale now by calling a Bullies Customer Service Representative at (609) 348-PUCK.
