Green Bay Rockers News Release

Green Bay, Wis. - Last night the Bullfrogs dropped a crazy game to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, 7-3. The Bullfrogs were losing 3-0 heading into the top of the eighth inning but were able to rally and tie the ballgame. In the bottom half, the Rafters retook the lead with four runs off of one hit and three Bullfrog errors. The loss brings the Bullfrogs record to 12-19.

Ethan Westphal (Central Missouri) got the start for the Bullfrogs as he went six strong innings. He made one pitch that he wished he had back, as Jake Lumley (Canisius) sent a fastball off the scoreboard in right field for a three run home run. Those would be the only runs that Westphal would give up in the game.

The offense was stagnant for the first seven innings as they struggled against Rafters starting pitcher Chris Cooper (Texas A&M Corpus Christi). He went seven scoreless innings before being replaced in the eighth inning by Cameron Busby (Georgia College). In the eighth the Bullfrogs jumped on Busby for three runs in the inning off of four hits. With the game tied 3-3, the Bullfrogs and Rafters headed to the bottom of the eighth.

The defense got sloppy in the bottom of the eighth as the Bullfrogs made three errors behind Logan Elliot (Mississippi State). The errors would cost the Bullfrogs the ballgame as the Rafters scored four runs in the inning. Garrett Schilling (Xavier) came in the ballgame in the ninth and struck out the side to pick up the win for the Rafters.

Austin Hancock (Lenoir Rhyne) will get his six start of the season tonight. Currently on the year, Hancock has only allowed three runs in 28 innings of work while striking out 27. For the Rafters, Enrique Zamora (Calumet College of St. Joseph) gets the start. He is 1-1 on the year with a 2.34 ERA.

First pitch is at 7:05pm from Witter Field.
