Bulldogs Take Series Lead With 5-1 Win Over Moose In Game 5

Winnipeg, MB - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Manitoba Moose 5-1 on Friday night to take a 3-2 series lead. Nigel Dawes recorded two goals while Ryan White had a goal and an assist to lead Hamilton to the win.

The Bulldogs opened the game's scoring at 1:09 of the first period with a power-play goal. Aaron Palushaj fed a pass to Dawes, who was positioned in the slot. Dawes blasted a one-time shot that sailed over the glove of Manitoba starting goaltender Eddie Lack and into the top of the net.

The ‘Dogs increased their lead to 2-0 at 4:58 of the second stanza. Ryan White dished the puck to Jimmy Bonneau, who was skating towards the net. Bonneau fired a shot that was stopped by Lack but the rebound bounced back to Bonneau, who whacked the puck past the goaltender and into the net.

The Moose got on the scoreboard at 15:04 of the middle frame while on the power play. Nolan Baumgartner fired a slap shot that was stopped by Hamilton starting goaltender Drew MacIntyre. The puck rebounded out to the right side of the net, where Marco Rosa was positioned. Rosa fired the puck past a diving MacIntyre and into the net.

Hamilton took a 3-1 lead at 12:26 of the final frame. J.T. Wyman carried the puck towards the net, attempting to jam it underneath Lack. The goaltender stopped Wyman's attempt but Ryan Russell grabbed the loose puck and flipped it over Lack and into the top of the net. White gave the Bulldogs a 4-1 lead at 16:13. Gabriel Dumont fed the puck into the slot, where White one-timed a shot that sailed over the blocker of Lack. Dawes added his second goal of the game when he scored an empty netter at 17:50.

The ‘Dogs and Moose will return to Hamilton for Game 6, where the Bulldogs will try and eliminate the Moose on Sunday, May 8th at 7:30 p.m. All Hamilton Bulldogs playoff broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
