Bulldogs Earn 5-4 Double Overtime Win Over Moose

Winnipeg, MB - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Manitoba Moose 5-4 in double overtime on Wednesday night at MTS Centre in Winnipeg. P.K. Subban scored his second goal of the game in the second overtime to give Hamilton a 3-1 series lead.

The Bulldogs opened the game's scoring at 12:37 of the first period. Shawn Belle sent the puck to Grant Stevenson, who was positioned on the right side boards. Stevenson took a few strides towards the net before snapping a shot. Mike Glumac tipped the puck past the blocker of Manitoba starting goaltender Cory Schneider.

The Moose tied the game 1-1 at 1:20 of the second stanza. Evan Oberg received a pass from Mario Bliznak before skating behind the Bulldogs net and flipping a shot over the glove of Hamilton starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins and into the top of the net. While on the power play, the Moose took a 2-1 lead at 6:31. Guillaume Desbiens gave the puck to Bliznak, who was stationed in the right corner of the Hamilton zone. Bliznak skated out in front of Bulldogs' net before firing a shot that squeaked through the pads of Desjardins.

15 seconds following the Moose goal, Hamilton tied the game 2-2 in the second period. Aaron Palushaj sent a pass to Brock Trotter, who was positioned at the left faceoff circle. Trotter snapped a shot that beat Schneider on the glove side.

Manitoba regained its lead 25 seconds after the 'Dogs goal. Matt Pope carried the puck into the Bulldogs' zone before dishing the puck to Dusty Collins. Collins backhanded a shot on net that beat Desjardins through the pads. Kevin Clark gave Manitoba a 4-2 lead at 8:41. Jordan Schroeder and Kevin Clark skated into Hamilton's zone on a two-on-one. Schroeder dragged the puck past a Bulldogs defender before sending a pass across to Clark, who one-timed a shot past Desjardins.

Subban made the game 4-3 at 10:48 of the second period. David Desharnais dodged a hit before giving the puck to Palushaj. Palushaj set up Subban with a pass before Subban rifled a wrist shot into the top corner of the net.

The 'Dogs tied the game 4-4 at 12:19 of the final frame. Stevenson blasted a shot from the right side boards that Schneider fumbled in front of the net. Mike Glumac shoved the loose puck past Schneider and into the back of the net.

The game went into sudden death overtime with the score tied 4-4. Neither team were able to score in the first overtime and with continuous overtimes in the playoffs, the game went into the second overtime. Subban scored his second goal of the game 6:05 into the second overtime period. David Desharnais sent the puck back to the right point where Subban was stationed. Subban proceeded to blast a shot on net that sailed past the glove of Schneider and into the net to win the game for the 'Dogs.

The Bulldogs will look to finish their first round series against the Moose in Game 5 in Winnipeg on Friday, April 21st at 8:30 p.m. EST.
