Brantford Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs dropped their home opener in a wild back and forth affair to the Erie Otters on Saturday night by an 8-5 final.

The goal scoring began 5:44 into the first frame when Daniel Singer capitalized on a bouncing puck at the Erie blueline to break away and find the back of the net quieting the crowd of 5,098 early and building momentum for the Otters. Singer's strike would be followed by the first of two Chad Yetman goals on the night, coming off a brilliant feed from Maxim Golod to give the Otters a two-goal advantage. The Bulldogs would respond in the period with Bradey Johnson pulling the puck through a thicket of skates off a George Diaco pass and scoring his first as a Bulldogs before Kade Landry would take a feed from Arthur Kaliyev and send a back foot wrist shot to tie the game at two at 14:41. The Otters would not let the Bulldogs off the hook, Emmett Sproule would strike at 18:02 followed by a Daniel D'Amato tip of a Jamie Drysdale point shot at 18:52 to give the Otters a 4-2 lead which they wouldn't relinquish from that point on.

The second period would see a parade to the penalty box for the Bulldogs and the Otters would make them pay twice, first Maxim Golod on a wide open opportunity from a cross ice Connor Lockhart pass at 8:11 would be followed by a Hayden Fowler strike assisted by Golod at 11:12. The Bulldogs rough second period would be exemplified by the inability to get a shot on goal until the 13-minute mark of the second period, the team would leave the ice after 40 minutes down 6-2.

The third period was a back and forth with Avery Hayes striking quickly to give the Bulldogs life at 1:40 on the power-play with Nathan Staios & Liam Van Loon providing the help but a short handed goal from Chad Yetman, followed by a Jamie Drysdale marker, his 5th point of the game, would prove insurmountable. Arthur Kaliyev would

pick up his second of the season and Avery Hayes his 2nd of the game just past the midway point of the third but it

wouldn't be enough with the Otters holding on for the 8-5 victory to spoil the Bulldogs party.

The Hamilton Bulldogs are back in action next weekend as they will host Windsor at 7 pm Friday and London starting at 7pm on Saturday.
