
Bulldogs Claim Forward Daniel Corso Off Waivers

HAMILTON, ON - Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today that the Club has claimed forward Daniel Corso off American Hockey League waivers from the Houston Aeros. Corso will join the team at practice in Hamilton tomorrow. The Montreal Canadiens have also re-assigned forward Cory Urquhart from Hamilton to the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL.
Corso, 29, posted 11 points (2-9-11) and four penalty minutes in 20 games this season with the Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the Russian Super League before signing an AHL contract with the Houston Aeros and being placed on AHL entry waivers. In 64 games in the AHL during the 2006-2007 campaign, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound centreman registered 15 goals, 37 assists, 52 points, and 39 penalty minutes with the Philadelphia Phantoms and the Springfield Falcons.
A native of Montreal, Quebec, Corso has 312 games of AHL experience with the former Worcester IceCats (1998-2003), the Binghamton Senators (2003-2004), the Chicago Wolves (2003-2004), Philadelphia (2006-2007) and Springfield (2006-2007), collecting 84 goals, 151 assists, 235 points and 162 penalty minutes.
Corso, drafted by the St Louis Blues in the 7th round, 169th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry draft, has also accumulated 25 points (14-11-25) and 20 penalty minutes in 77-career National Hockey League games with St. Louis (2000-2003) and the Atlanta Thrashers (2003-2004).
Urquhart, a 23-year-old native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, has appeared in 21 games in the AHL with Hamilton this season, notching five goals, four assists, nine points and 14 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 203-pound forward also has one assist in one game with Cincinnati this season.
The defending Calder Cup Champion Hamilton Bulldogs return to action on Friday, December 21st at 8:30 p.m. when they travel to the MTS Centre in Winnipeg to take on the Manitoba Moose.
