Bulldogs Begin Quest for Calder Cup Tuesday

The Hamilton Bulldogs will open their AHL Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals best-of-five series on Tuesday, April 15th at 7:00 p.m. when they host the Springfield Falcons at Copps Coliseum.

This playoff series will mark the first ever post season match-up between the Bulldogs and Falcons. Springfield advanced to the AHL Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals by sweeping the Hartford Wolf Pack 2-0 in the AHL Eastern Conference Qualifying Round.

The Bulldogs (AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers) and the Falcons (AHL affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes and Tampa Bay Lightning) are the only two AHL organizations that are affiliated with two NHL clubs, respectively.

BULLDOGS PLAYOFF TICKETS:

Bulldogs fans can purchase their first round playoff tickets at the Copps Coliseum Box Office, at all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling Ticketmaster at (905) 527-7666. First round ticket prices are as follows: Adult - $22.00, Student/Senior - $17.00, Wheelchair - $17.00, & Child - $12.00.

HAMILTON AND SPRINGFIELD CONNECTION:

· Springfield forward and Carlisle native Jeff Daw played for the Bulldogs from 1996-99 skating in 201 games earning 129 points (57g-72a-129pts)

· Rob Murray, who currently plays for Springfield, was the Bulldogs captain during the 1999-00 season and played in 55 games earning 31 points (11g-20a-31pts)

· Springfield head coach Marty McSorley grew up in nearby Cayuga.

BULLDOGS AT HOME IN THE PLAYOFFS:

All-time the Bulldogs have earned a record of 19 wins and 14 losses (.576) in 33 home playoff games.

BULLDOGS ON THE ROAD IN THE PLAYOFFS:

All-time on the road the Bulldogs have posted 16 wins and 18 losses (.471) in 34 road playoff games.

BULLDOGS IN THE FIRST ROUND:

The Bulldogs have won all five of their first playoff rounds (1.000) in franchise history. Hamilton has played a total of 22 opening round games earning a record of 15 wins and 7 losses (.682)

BULLDOGS IN OVERTIME IN THE PLAYOFFS:

The Hamilton Bulldogs have played in 14 overtime playoff games since the club's inception into the AHL in 1996-97 and have earned a record of nine wins and 5 losses (.643).
