Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

The Shreveport Mudbugs (9-1-2) found some more home cooking in OT to get by the Amarillo Bulls, 4-3 and earn three out of a possible four points this weekend at George's Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.

Amarillo got on the board early at 3:05 of the first period when Cooper Fensterstock slipped in a rebound in front for his second goal of the season to give the Bulls the early 1-0 lead. The lead wouldn't last long as the Bugs would take advantage of their first PP opportunity. Matt Weber would redirect in his fourth goal of the year in front at 5:08 to tie the game, 1-1. Braiden Dorfman and Aidan Metcalfe earned the helpers. The Bugs would grab the lead at 9:16 when Jacob Onstott would knuckle in his third goal of the year with a tricky and slower shot from the slot which fooled their goalie to give Shreveport a 2-1 lead. Dawson Sciarrino and Sean Bunting earned the assists on the tally.

There was no scoring in the second period as both teams traded some good scoring chances. Shreveport unfortunately couldn't take advantage of two PP chances in the middle frame. Amarillo led in SOG in the period, 10-5. Overall shot totals though after two favored Shreveport, 18-17.

Amarillo tied the game, 2-2 at 5:42 on the PP when Ty Black shot in his fifth goal of the season. Shreveport responded at 15:38 when Matt Weber grabbed through the slot and fired home his second goal of the game and fifth of the night to put the Bugs ahead 3-2. The Bulls would respond again at 17:36 on the PP again when Jordan Venegoni threw in his first goal of the season in front to tie the game, 3-3.

The game would go to OT and it was Lukas Sedlacek ramming home a juicy rebound in front for his third goal of the season and it was the game-winner for a 4-3 victory for Shreveport.

The Bugs get three out of a possible four points this weekend.

Cole Hudson grabs his seventh win in the cage making just 16 saves on the night.

The Bugs will have Christmas weekend off before beginning a three-game series against the Odessa Jackalopes from Ector County Coliseum. Game 1 of the series will be New Year's Eve with puck drop scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
