January 27, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Get ready for a great weekend of hockey and giving back to the community as the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs continue their homestand with two games against the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:05 pm this Friday and Saturday at the CenturyTel Center. Friday ‚¬â„¢s game is our MetroPCS "Fans ‚¬â„¢ Choice Charity Night", while Saturday will be our special "Hometown Heroes Night".

For Friday ‚¬â„¢s MetroPCS "Fans ‚¬â„¢ Choice Charity Night", we left it up to you the fans to select which of six local charities would benefit from our January Mudbugs Charity Game. You overwhelmingly voted Special Olympics Louisiana as the winner of the fan vote, meaning one dollar from every ticket sold for Friday ‚¬â„¢s game will be donated to help disabled Louisianans participate in their programs.

For their first-ever meeting against the Komets, one of the most storied franchises in all of minor-league hockey, the Mudbugs will be wearing their specialty MetroPCS community service jerseys, which will be auctioned off later this season with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Special Olympics Louisiana.

Saturday will offer recognition to the men and women of local law enforcement agencies, fire departments and other community servants on "Hometown Heroes Night". Help us thank the men and women who serve our local communities each and every day with this special event as the ‚¬ËœBugs face the Komets for the second straight game.

Hundreds of police and firefighters from all over the Ark-La-Tex will be attending Saturday ‚¬â„¢s game free of charge thanks to donated tickets from the following local businesses: Applebee's, Gibsland Bank, Kentwood Springs, Simplex Grinnell, Splash Kingdom Water Park, State Farm Agent Sam Spivey, Texas Roadhouse and The Vitamin Shoppe. The Mudbugs would like to thank those companies for their generosity and support of "Hometown Heroes Night."

Don ‚¬â„¢t miss two exciting hockey games and these great community causes as the Mudbugs take on the Fort Wayne Komets this Friday and Saturday at the CTC!
