Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are at home this weekend to close out the CHL regular season with a pair of games at the CenturyTel Center! Friday night the Mudbugs take on the division rival Mississippi RiverKings and Saturday night they play host to the Corpus Christi IceRays. Join us at the CTC this weekend as the 'Bugs tune-up for the 2009 CHL playoffs!

The Mudbugs occupy the fourth seed in the Northern Conference standings going into the weekend, but could still pass Oklahoma City to finish third in the conference. If the 'Bugs do finish third, they would earn a first-round bye and face either Mississippi or Colorado in second round best-of-seven series. If they stay in fourth place, the 'Bugs would face Rocky Mountain in a best-of-three first round playoff series starting next week.

Friday night's game is the last of 12 regular season meetings with the RiverKings at 7:05 pm, presented by Dodge. Bossier-Shreveport has already met Mississippi five times in the past three weeks, but will battle their division rivals once more before the regular season ends. Tuesday night the Mudbugs rallied from three separate two-goal deficits to earn a thrilling 5-4 victory in Southaven, Mississippi and snap a four-game losing skid against the 'Kings. Entering Friday night, the 'Bugs hold a 6-4-1 record against Mississippi this season. It should make for playoff atmosphere Friday night as the 'Bugs try to capture the third seed in the conference and the RiverKings still have a shot at passing Colorado in the race for the Governors' Cup.

Saturday night, the intensity level should be just as high as Bossier-Shreveport takes on Corpus Christi at 7:05 pm, presented by the Shreveport Times. Not only have the Mudbugs and IceRays had their fair share of bad blood this year, but Corpus may need a win on Saturday in order to secure a playoff spot in the Southern Conference. The IceRays are fighting to beat out both the defending President's Cup Champion Arizona Sundogs and the New Mexico Scorpions for the fifth and final playoff position in the South. Depending on Friday's results, that race could come down to the last night of the season. The 'Bugs and Rays have developed a new rivalry this year with a 2-2 tie in the season series and the line brawl that broke out between the teams back on December 26 here in Bossier City.

Saturday night's game will also feature our final jersey auction of the regular season, as the Mudbugs' black warm-up jerseys will be auctioned off to the fans after the contest. Proceeds from this jersey auction will go to benefit the Christus Schumpert Sutton Children's Hospital. The stylish black jerseys are sponsored by Lou Chandler, Inc. and were worn during the pre-game warm-up of all 32 'Bugs home games this season. We will also be having another public post-game skate following Saturday night's game. Cost is $6.00 per person to skate and tickets are available at the Mudbugs information table on the concourse during the game.

Individual seats for both games are on sale through Ticketmaster at 318-741-9700 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Group ticket packages are available at the Mudbugs office, so call 318-752-BUGS or stop by the team office inside CenturyTel Center to get yours today! Don't forget that if you have already purchased your ticket package for the Mudbugs' 2009 home playoff games, you can pick up your tickets at the team information booth on the concourse during both of this weekend's games.
