Bugs Drop Heartbreaker to Jacks
January 21, 2023 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Shreveport Mudbugs (18-13-5) gave up a late goal which doomed them in the end losing 2-1 to the Odessa Jackalopes at George's Pond in Hirsch Coliseum Saturday night.
After a scoreless opening period, Nik Miller broke the ice at 13:09 of the 2nd period as he redirected home his sixth goal of the season in front to give SHV an early 1-0 edge. Logan Gotinsky and Alex Park earned the helpers.
The Jacks rallied in the third period when Michael Kadlecik tipped home his first goal of the season in front of the net to even the score, 1-1 at 3:42. Then on a 4 on 4 scenario, it was Ryan Kelly who raced behind the net and scored on a wraparound from the short side to give the Jacks a devastating 2-1 lead w/ just 52 seconds left in the game. It was Kelly's 10th goal of the campaign and it was the game-winner.
SHV has now dropped its last four games going 0-3-1 in the stretch.
The Bugs will conclude their longest home-stand of the season by squaring off against their arch-rival in the Lone Star Brahmas for a two-game series beginning next Friday night. It'll be our Mardi Gras themed weekend. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. from George's Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
