Buffalo Bandits News Release
BUFFALO, N.Y. (September 8, 2008) Buffalo Bandits Director of Lacrosse Operations Scott Loffler today announced the team selected four players at the 2008 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft on Sunday at TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
The 2008 NLL Champion Bandits, who did not hold a pick until the third round, made two trades during the draft and used three of their four picks on defensemen.
3rd round (35th overall) - Eryn Jones (Defense) - Six Nations Arrows Express
In 22 games Jones collected one assist, 87 penalty minutes and 10 loose balls with the Six Nations Arrows Express of the Ontario Lacrosse Association Junior A league last year.
4th round (49th overall) - Tory Gardner (Defense) - Six Nations Arrows Express
Gardner will join his teammate, Eryn Jones, after appearing in three games and recording two assists, nine penalty minutes and three loose balls for Six Nations in the OLA Junior A league last season.
5th round (62nd overall) - Shane Pollock (Forward) - Wallaceburg Red Devils
Pollock was the lone forward selected by the Bandits and collected seven assists and 43 penalty minutes in 20 games with the Wallaceburg Red Devils of the OLA Junior B league in 2008.
6th round (65th overall) - Dustin Dunn (Def.) - Postdam State Univesity
The Bandits moved up to the 65th spot by trading their final two picks (75th and 76th overall) to Chicago for the selection. A traditional field player, Dunn played four years at Postdam State University as a long pole defender. He finished second on the team with 21 points (15+6) in 14 games as a senior last season.
The Bandits made one additional trade on the day, sending one of their two fourth round selections (44th overall) to Boston in exchange for the Blazers' fourth round pick in the 2009 entry draft.
The four new faces will have a chance to make their debut with the defending 2008 NLL Champions when the Bandits open the regular season at HSBC Arena vs. the Philadelphia Wings on January 3 at 7:30 p.m.
