
Buffalo Downs Yankees in Series Finale 10-3

Syracuse, NY - Matt Den Decker provided the power yet again for the Buffalo Bisons. His home run in the first and two-RBI single in the fifth led the Bisons to a 10-3 victory over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees in Sunday afternoon's series finale at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse, New York.
The Bisons jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top half of the second inning. For the second consecutive game, Matt den Dekker crushed a home run way over the centerfield wall. His sixth homer of the game gave the Bisons the early 1-0 advantage. Buffalo added two more in the top half of the fourth on a Josh Satin two run homer. Adam Loewen made the trot around the bases on the Satin homer, extending the Buffalo lead to 3-0.
The Bisons exploded for a three-run fourth inning, extending their lead to 6-0 in the ballgame. Loewen started the rally with an RBI double to right field. Later in the inning, Preston Claiborne came in to relieve Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starter John Maine with the bases loaded. Den Decker cashed in on the opportunity roping a two-RBI single to center and extending the Bisons lead to 6-0 heading into the home half of the inning.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre got two back in the home half of the fifth, making it a . Doug Bernier crushed an RBI double dow the left field line, plating Cole Garner with one out in the innings. Chris Dickerson gave Scranton/Wilkes-Barre it's second run of the night with a sacrifice to right field, allowing Ramiro Pena to score from third. However, the two runs were all the Yankees would get in the innings as Corban Joseph grounded out to first to end the inning. Brandon Laird cut the Bisons lead in half in the top half of the seventh with an RBI single to left field.
The Bisons added two insureance runs in the top half of the eighth on Rob Johnson RBI single to center and Fred Lewis grounded into a fielders choice bringing home Matt Tuiasosopo. Loewen crushed a solo home run to right field in the ninth for the tenth and final run for the Bisons in the ballgame.
Maine earned the loss for the Yankees, falling to 2-3 on the season. The veteran right-hander allowed six runs on four hits, while walking four and striking out six over 4.2 innings on the mound. Collin McHugh earned the win for the Bisons. Improving to 1-2 on the season for the Bisons. The right-hander allowed three runs, one earned on six hits. He walked one and stuck out two in 5.1 innings on the bump. The Yankees return to Alliance Bank Stadium on Thursday night for a five game, four-day series against the Syracuse Chiefs. The series starts with a completion of a previous game at 6:00 pm.
