September 24, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Laredo Bucks News Release

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League announced Thursday that they have signed forwards Robin Richards and Peter-James Corsi for the 2009-10 season. Richards is entering his fifth professional season, while Corsi will begin his second pro campaign.

Richards has played in 120 professional games so far in his career, including 64 in the CHL. Thus far in the professional ranks the 6'4, 220 pound Richards has piled up a total of 508 PIM's (299 in CHL).

"Robin Richards is a big, tough hockey player. He's going to bring a lot of aggresiveness to our team," said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "I like the way he plays, he will bring energy to the line-up."

Last season the Winnipeg, Manitoba native picked up 160 PIM's and no points in just 30 games with the ECHL's Alaska Aces.

Richards spent the 2007-08 season in the CHL, splitting time with Odessa and Tulsa. That season the 24-year-old Richards picked up a total of 299 PIM's, to go along with six points (1-5=6).

"We saw him twice that season, he made an impression on us," said Ruskowski. "When he became available we jumped at the chance to pick him up."

During the 2006-07 season Richards played seven games in the ECHL, picking up a total of 19 PIM's with Cinncinatti and Columbia. Richards spent the majority of that season in the LNAH (non-professional) with Trois Rivieres, compiling six points and 146 PIM's.

Richards started his pro career in 2005-06 playing 19 games in the UHL, picking up 30 PIM's and two points while splitting time with Motor City and Flint.

Prior to turning pro Richards played in a total of 130 junior games, compiling 496 PIM's and 17 points.

*CORSI BEGINS SECOND PRO SEASON*

Last season 21-year-old Peter-James Corsi spent his rookie campaign in the ECHL, splitting time with Charlotte and Phoenix. Last season Corsi played in a total of 52 games, putting up 28 points (11-17=28), to go along with 99 PIM's.

Corsi, a native of Montreal, Quebec, spent the majority of last season in Charlotte, where he scored 23 points (9-14=23) in 41 games for the Checkers.

"Corsi has the capability of putting up good numbers for us this season," said Ruskowski. "I've heard some positive things about the way he handles the puck."

5'11, 185 pound Corsi (pronounced CORE-see) played four years of junior hockey in the QMJHL, scoring a total of 170 points (72-98=170) and picking up 296 PIM's. Corsi played in 32 career playoff games, and put up 26 points (11-15=26).

In 2007-08 Corsi notched career highs in games played (67), goals (31), assists (39), points (70), and PIM's (116) while finishing up his junior career with Halifax.

Richards and Corsi are the 26th and 27th Bucks signed this off-season, including the 16th and 17th with at least one year of professional experience.

The Bucks will open their eighth season in the Gateway City on October 24th at the LEC, and will host the 2010 CHL All-Star Game January 13th. For ticket information call 718-BUCK (2825).
