The Ice Bats capitalized first as forward Jonathan Jolette snapped home a wrist shot on a power play at 6:09. The Bucks came back and tied the game on a five-on-three power play as forward James Hiebert stuffed in a rebound at 11:21. It was the 23rd of the season for Hiebert. Austin retook the lead as forward Jeff Neufeld tipped a shot from the point by Jolette for another power play goal at 13:38. Just one minute later it was Julius Smith wrapping home a loose puck to make it 3-1 Ice Bats.
The Bucks exploded in the second period. Forward Brent Cullaton found Grenville with a long breakout pass down the right wing that Grenville corralled, then streaked in and scored on the breakaway for his 27th of the season to bring Laredo within 3-2 at 4:05. Just 11 seconds later Grenville teed up a shot that went thru a mass of bodies in front and into the net to tie the game at 3-3. Then just 18 seconds after Grenville tied it, forward Jeff Bes untied it as he cut down the left wing and snapped home a wrist shot five-hole for his 24th of the year. The two goals in 11 seconds and the three goals in 29 seconds were both franchise records for the Bucks. Laredo out shot Austin 14-3 in the second period.
In the third period the Bucks added to the lead as Bes fired a shot from the high slot that was tipped by Cullaton for a power play goal at 1:33. It was the 19th for the Bucks captain. Austin got back to within a goal as John McNabb teed up a slap shot for a power play goal at 8:50. Laredo had the answer as defenseman Adam Rivet grabbed his own rebound just 27 seconds later and scored his 16th of the year on a backhander to push the Bucks lead to 6-4. Grenville capped the scoring by completing the hat trick with an empty netter at 19:10. FINAL SCORE Laredo 7, Austin 4.
David Lemanowicz stopped 28 of 32 shots and got the win to improve to 17-4-3. Matt Barnes allowed six goals on 38 shots and fell to 9-14-2. The Bucks were 2-5 on the power play while Austin went 3-6. Laredo out shot the Ice Bats 39-32.
