Bucks Fall In OT, Lead Series 2-1

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks fell to the Odessa Jackalopes 4-3 in overtime Wednesday night in game three of the Southern Conference Semi-Finals, in front of 6,527 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks lead the best of seven series 2-1, with a huge game four Friday night at the LEC.

Jean Bourbeau scored 5:15 into overtime to give the Jackalopes the victory.

Laredo could not hold a two-goal third period lead for the second time this series, this time it cost them.

The Bucks were out shot for the third straight game in the series, this time by a 46-25 count.

Sebastien Centomo stopped 42 of 46 in a losing effort for Laredo, while Juha Toivonen set aside 22 of 25 shots to pick up the win for Odessa.

Laredo falls to 17-4 all-time in overtime playoff games.

Odessa came out and quickly took a 1-0 first period lead over Laredo. Jeff Pierce snagged a loose puck at the slot and scored on a wrist shot just 3:07 into the first. The goal was Pierce' first career playoff tally.

The Bucks would come right back and score twice in a span of 16 seconds to take a 2-1 lead after one.

Matt Miller picked up a loose puck just inside the blue line and scored on a wrister from the slot. The strike was Miller's first of the postseason, with Jason Dixon and Adam Rivet picking up assists.

Laredo took a 2-1 lead just 16 seconds later when Brent Cullaton fed Darryl Smith on a two-on-one break with Smith scoring on a backander from the slot. The strike was Smith's fourth of the playoffs, with Cullaton picking up his first playoff point.

The Bucks penalty kill came up big late in the first period, when they killed off a five-minute Odessa power-play.

Laredo was out shot in the first period 17-7.

The Bucks would increase their lead to 3-1 when Serge Dube struck on the power-play with 6:14 left in the second. Dube took the puck at the left point and skated to the end line, before sending a wrist shot into the net from an odd angle. The goal was Dube's first of the playoffs, and his 11th in his postseason career. Ryan Salvis and Brent Cullaton tacked on the assists.

Laredo was out shot 14-8 in the second period.

For the second time in the series the Bucks could not hold a two-goal lead, as the ‘Jacks scored twice to send the game into overtime.

Laredo's lead was cut to 3-2 as Mike Ramsay scored on a wrister from the slot 8:40 into the third period. The goal was Ramsay's first of the playoffs.

The Jackalopes would tie the game at 3-3 with 6:42 left in the third period, when Kenny Bernard scored on a rebound in the crease.

Laredo was out shot in the third period 12-9.

At Game four on Friday April 3, every fan in attendance will receive a FREE HOT DOG! Also on April 3 fans can take advantage of $1 Beer, as well as $1 soda all game long! The Bucks will hand out 1,000 Cowbells prior to the game.

*Bucks Donate $10,000 Each To Charities, Bucky Released From Jail!*

Thanks to the fans in attendance Wednesday night, the Bucks donated $10,000 each to the South Texas Food Bank and the Sacred Heart Children's Home.

The Bucks presented the two checks to the charities during the second intermission.

Thanks to Laredo Energy and Border Lease Services the Bucks offered $5 tickets to Wednesday's playoff game.

Last season the Bucks donated $10,000 each to the South Texas Food Bank and the Sacred Heart Children's Home.

The Laredo Bucks thank the community for their continued support!

Thanks to the big crowd Wednesday night, Bucky was released from the Webb County Jail prior to Wednesday's game.

Bucky had been jailed since March 23, with his bail set at $5 Tickets.

*Bucks Give Away Trip To Vegas, Carnival Cruise*

During the second period of Wednesday night's game two lucky season ticket holders won prizes courtesy of the Bucks. Paulo Aguilar won a trip to Las Vegas, while Ana Rappaport won the Carnival Cruise.

Aguilar and Rappaport were qualified to win the prizes by buying their playoff package by the first home playoff game.

*Ticket Prices Stay The Same Throughout Playoffs*

Walk up ticket prices will stay the same throughout every round of the 2009 Playoffs. In seasons past the ticket prices have increased round by round.

With the exception of Game Three (April 1), which will be $5, ticket prices start at $12.75.

The Bucks will be offering big discounts at the team store starting March 18th when the Bucks host the Texas Brahmas. Season ticket holders get 30% off and non season ticket holders get 15% off (excluding items that are already on sale). The discounts will run throughout the Bucks playoff run.
