
Bucks fall 4-1 in Rio Grande Valley

HIDALGO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks fell 4-1 to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Tuesday night at the Dodge Arena in front of a sellout crowd of 5,700. The loss ended the Bucks season high tying five game win streak. Laredo is 41-15-6 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 88 points. The Bucks are home Sunday against the Corpus Christi Rayz to close the 2005-06 CHL regular season. The Killer Bees scored the only goal of the first period on a two-man advantage. Rio Grande Valley forward Trevor Weisgerber stick handled to the high slot then found forward Bill Newson for a one-timer from the bottom of the left circle at 16:56. Rio Grande Valley out shot the Bucks 17-7 in the frame.
Rio Grande Valley exploded in the second period. Weisgerber scored on a shot from the bottom of the left circle just 1:28 into the frame to make it 2-0. At 6:51 forward Brett DeCecco found a loose puck at the side of the net and stuffed it in to make it 3-0 Rio Grande Valley. The Bees continued to add to their lead as Newson scored his second of the game also on a power play at 12:12 to make it 4-0. Late in the period the Bucks got on the scoreboard as forward Chris Grenville found a loose puck in front and jammed it home at 19:34 for his team leading 33rd of the season.
Neither team scored in the third period. FINAL SCORE Rio Grande Valley 4, Laredo 1.
David Lemanowicz allowed four goals on 45 shots and took the loss to drop to 17-5-3. Evan Lindsay stopped 30 of 31 shots and improved to 24-17-4. The Killer Bees were 2-7 on the power play while Laredo went 0-3. Rio Grande Valley out shot the Bucks 45-31.
