Bucks Fall 3-2, Series Tied 1-1

ALLEN, TX- The Laredo Bucks fell to the Allen Americans 3-2 Saturday night in game two of the Central Hockey League's Southern Conference semifinals at the Allen Event Center. The best of series is tied at one game apiece with game three Tuesday (Mar 30th) in Laredo.

Chris Whitley won his first professional playoff game as he set aside 30 of 32 Bucks shots he faced.

Pier Pelletier suffered the loss as he stopped 21 of 24 shots in net.

Laredo falls to 12-7 all-time in game three of a playoff series.

The Bucks pulled Pelletieir for the final 1:13 of the game but failed to tie the contest as Allen won their first-ever playoff game. The Bucks outshot the Americans 32-24 in the game.

For the first time this season the Bucks scored first on the road against the Americans to lead 1-0 after 20 minutes.

Todd Griffith scored on a backhander from the right side of the slot to pick up his third career CHL playoff goal. Laredo had failed to score first in their previous four trips to Allen this season including Friday's game one win.

The Bucks outshot the Americans 9-6 in the first period but were 0-for-four on the power-play.

Allen would come back and strike for three goals in the second period to take a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

Brandon Straub tied the game at 1-1 just 1:16 into the second when he got credit for a goal that bounced off of a Bucks defender.

The Americans took a 2-1 lead 5:13 into the second when Nino Musitelli scored his first goal of the night on a wrist shot from the right circle on a two-on-two break.

Musitelli made it 3-1 Allen when he scored a power-play rebound goal with 7:41 left in the second period. The tally was Musitelli's second of the game.

The Bucks came up empty on four power-play attempts once again in the second period.

Each team put up 13 shots in the second period.

Ryan Lehr brought the Bucks to within 3-2 just 5:48 into the third period when he scored on a slap shot from the point to pick up his first professional playoff goal.

Brent Cullaton missed games one and two to coach the Boulder Junior Bisons in the National Tournament in Boston. Cullaton will return for game three in Laredo Tuesday night (Mar. 30th).
