Elliott, a 6' 1" 210 pound defenseman, helped the Bucks capture the 2006 CHL President's Cup title this past spring. In the regular season he had five goals and 14 assists to go along with 54 PIMS. In the post-season he contributed a goal and two assists in 14 games.
"Elliott is a very steady defenseman," said Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski. "He is a team guy that you can rely on night in and night out. His will to win was evident when he cut the cast off his broken hand before Game Five of the Finals and suited up to help us win the President's Cup this past spring."
Elliott was fourth among all CHL defenseman with a plus 27 rating.
With 277 career pro games played, he comes in just three games under veteran status. He has played in 111 consecutive regular season games for the Bucks, the second longest in franchise history, trailing the 124 straight by forward Jeff Bes.
"I am very happy to be back," said Elliott. "It was a great experience winning a championship last season. I am looking forward to the chance to try to do it again."
In 2005-06 he played in 57 regular season games and had four goals, 25 points and 41 PIMs. He had the fifth best plus / minus on the team at plus 20 and was third among Bucks defenseman. In the post season he had four assists in 16 games.
Elliott, a native of Surrey, British Columbia, was a fifth round draft choice of the Edmonton Oilers in the 1998 NHL draft. Elliott has spent parts of three seasons at the AHL level, including two seasons with San Antonio and one with the Utah Grizzlies.
He played his junior hockey in the Western Hockey League where he spent parts of his first three seasons with Lethbridge, and then played with Medicine Hat, Kamloops and Regina. During his 16-year old season, the 1996-97 campaign, the Lethbridge Hurricanes advanced to the Memorial Cup tournament and lost in the championship game. As a 20-year old in the 2000-01 season he played in the Memorial Cup tournament with the Regina Pats and was selected to the All-Star team. The Memorial Cup is the championship of Canadian Major Junior hockey and is determined by a post-season tournament that matches the champions of the Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League in a round robin format.
